We want to send a huge thank you to all who participated in yesterday's Truckload Project of sorting and putting together orders for 16 non-profit agencies in Manteca, Stockton, Lodi, Galt and the foothills who distribute food items to many experiencing food insecurity.
The two truckloads of shelf stable foods were sent from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Charities. These foods will feed hundreds.
This was a combined effort of the Lodi, Stockton, and Manteca Stakes of the LDS Church and their Communications Directors and Councils: Lodi: Cathy Leonard; Stockton: Dale Fritchen; and Manteca: Kip Wilkens. Along with the help of Joseph Anderson, Tri-Stake Communications Specialist and Terry Weaver, Field Manager, Welfare and Self-Reliance Dept, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Sacramento office. Other Church Leaders gave support and direction.
There were more than 100 volunteers on hand sorting and stacking the 46 pallets, 3068 cases, 76,686.64 lbs, 38 tons of food from those trucks. And amazingly it was all completed in a little over 2 hours.
The Lord had a big hand in making this all possible. And everyone working together made it happen. The cooperation of many groups working hand in hand was like a symphony. Everything went very smoothly with just a few glitches that got solved quickly. The project was outside and was able to be finished before the real heat of the day arrived.
Whether you were there in person or not, we appreciate your support as we take part in these opportunities to serve our communities. It was especially nice to see Mayor Lincoln of Stockton and Supervisor Rick Rickman participate and show support in the effort to help the local communities.
